Tips for writing a winning cover letter

The goal of a cover letter is to give the hiring manager enough info to consider you a perfect candidate for the job. 

Tip #1: don’t give too much or irrelevant info.

Tip#2: make sure you include the following three sections;

·        intro and connection to the mission of the organization

·        brief summary of your skills and background as they relate to the position

·        thank you, contact instructions, and closing

 

 

Your cover letter gives the reader a look into your personality and your ability to communicate. The cover letter allows you to sell yourself to a potential employer in a way that the résumé format can’t convey.

A thoughtful and well-written cover letter is taken seriously by organizations.  A good cover letter can strengthen your application and help you get to the next stage of the process; a poor cover letter can result in the instant disqualification of your candidacy.  Take advantage of this opportunity to make a great impression!
