As the summer began, the Faculty had a group of 30 undergraduate students of the School of Business and Economics, ICESI University, Colombia, paying a visit to our School on May. They were accompanied by Professor Lina Martinez, Ph.D. and Professor Enrique Ramirez Ph.D. Like us, ICESI University holds the AACSB accreditation as well. They have declared their intentions about developing and strengthening the cooperation between the two instutions. Our faculty members gave two presentations about the Turkish economy and a brief history of our Institution. Looking forward to exchange possibilities.
IU School of Business organized a workshop on case method teaching and writing case studies on June,13th of 2014. The workshop was run by University of Southern California Professor Kenneth A. Merchant who is an expert in field study management accounting cases.
Sung Joo Park is a professor at the KAIST Business School in Seoul, Korea. He was the former dean and Vice President of KAIST, and served as the founding President of AAPBS (The Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools). He also served as a member of global business education boards including AACSB and GFME (Global Foundation for Management Education). He received a Ph.D. at the Michigan State University in 1978 and worked for the KAIST since 1980. Currently, he is a distinguished visiting professor at Tsinghua SEM, Beijing, China.
He was an advisory consulting professor for Samsung Group for 10 years including the companies like Samsung Corning, Samsung SDS, Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology among others. He sits on the editorial boards of academic journals such as Decision Support Systems, J. of Operational Research, International J. of Modeling, Simulation and Scientific Computing.
He was a member of Korean Presidential Advisory Council on Science & Technology and currently is a life-time member of the Korean Academy of Science & Technology.
He did research in the various aspects of collaborative work support systems for innovations, and is currently working on the Asian management and innovation.
Professor Sung Joo Park visited us at Istanbul University Business School (IUBS) on 21.04.2014. The meetings were held in two sessions concentrating on the challanges of MBA education and innovation of Asian companies.
The first session included subjects related to the spirit of MBA education. Professor Park pointed out critical issues about management literature, such as the interaction between theory and application and focused on the Asian MBA perspective. The second session elaborated on innovative Asian companies that immensely contributed to the management literature.
At the end of a session, Faculty Dean Professor Erdal Tekarslan announced that we will be expecting Professor Park to lecture at IUBS in the near future.
