LFC Contest / #2 VMU / New Academic Year Celebration at VMU

From 26 August to 2 September, all international students of VMU are invited to the events of a special introductory week which will offer an informative presentation of the university and various ways to celebrate the start of its 25th academic year.

The VMU International Office has prepared a comprehensive programme of events for its Orientation Days, which will introduce the newcomers to the university and the city of Kaunas. In addition to finding out lots of useful and practical details about the studies, dormitories, mentors and other important matters, international students will also celebrate the beginning of the new academic year, join the Sharing Is Caring flea market, take excursions and tours of VMU, Kaunas, Trakai and Vilnius, attend the welcome camp at VMU Kaunas Botanical Garden, etc. The detailed programme of events can be found here.

On 27 August, at 3.30 p.m., international students will receive a welcome lecture titled "Living and Studying in Kaunas and @ VMU". It will be delivered at VMU Great Hall (S. Daukanto g. 28) by Member of the European Parliament Leonidas Donskis and the university’s Vice-Rector for Public Communication Prof. Auksė Balčytienė.

Aside from events dedicated to the international students, the introductory week will also provide opportunities for them to join in on festivities for the entire community of the university and the city. On 30 August, at 9 p.m., everyone will let loose at the VMU Introduction Party at Gargaras music club (Raudondvario pl. 101). DJ beats will be served by Jonas Deep, Carl Canni, Paul de Man and Dapa Deep, while the night’s most anticipated performances will be given by rising rockers Garbanotas Bosistas and prominent electro band Golden Parazyth (Click to listen for a guaranteed smile). VMU students will be able to attend free of charge, the entry price for the rest is 10 Lt.
